March in review

March proved to be a disappointing time, not because of any dip in profits or strike rate, but because I wasn't able to devote the kind of time I had hoped to my continued development. In total, I managed to trade on nine occasions, totalling a frustratingly low 49 events.

Despite the harsh lessons of the $100 stakes day, I maintained a healthy strike rate of 79.59% (39 profitable events), which gave me an overall trading profit for the month of $19.12. I also managed to green up for my first few double figure profits. However, the poor decision to back Denman in a break from trading, led to the balance being depleted by $57 overall.

Hopefully April will provide me with more opportunities to trade. The end of daylight savings in Australia might open more doors for a bit of late night dabbling on the UK markets, with race meetings starting between 10pm and 11pm (AEST) as opposed to between 12 and 1am. I certainly go into the month wiser for the lessons of March, and hopefully this might translate to more pronounced success.

At the same time, I will continue with my live soccer multibets strategy (see my other blog), while I have opened a Betdaq account to trial in-play soccer events which, of course, are illegal on Betfair in Australia. It should be a good time to pick up Soccer Mystic for the first time and try to develop some new strategies to test on Betdaq.

My enthusiasm and confidence are as high as ever, although I am realising what a struggle it can be to find time for trading with a full time job and a young family.
